With the belief that embroidery is transforming, Freya Stanford is excited to express her creativity and step into the embroidery tutoring world. After recently graduating from the Royal School of Needlework with a First Class (Hons) degree, she is eager to share everything she has learnt. Freya, being from Rutland, the smallest county in the country, has been sewing since a young age, learning from her mum and sister and has now worked for companies such as Alexander McQueen, Erdem and on a range of costumes for Hollywood movies. Whilst at university, she was awarded first prize for the Bradford Textiles Society competition for her hand embroidery and design skills as well as getting the chance to embroider for the anointing screen for the King’s coronation. Freya has an eye for detail and loves experimenting with embroidery, combining different techniques to create something new. She can’t wait to get started sharing her love of embroidery with the Hand and Lock team.

Fun fact about Freya: She won an art competition when she was 8 years old, the brief was to create an afternoon tea fit for the queen. She made a red, white and blue tea set out of clay and got to go and see the queen!
