Join us for our new London Craft Week Goldwork Crown Taster course and explore the realm of Goldwork embroidery. Guided by our expert hand embroidery tutors, you'll learn essential skills for this intricate craft, including learning the fundamental techniques of Metal Thread work. Explore the rich history and tradition woven into goldwork embroidery as you learn how to combine threads and beautifully finish your design with couture methods. Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads. Historically associated with ceremonial and military uniform the technique is now also popular in customization, couture and interior design. Using threads that are imitation gold, silver, copper, or coloured allows embroiderers to create metallic surface designs that reflect light and create dazzling effects.

Please arrive five minutes before your course is due to start at the main doors of Hand & Lock.

During this course, you will learn Soft String Padding, Cutwork, Bead Application and Silk Thread work.

You will learn fundamental Goldwork Embroidery techniques and combine these with silk thread work across our beautiful new design.

All of the materials you need for this class will be provided for you as part of your course experience. You are more than welcome to bring your own embroidery equipment if you would rather use your own materials but everything will be provided for you.
